Horse Muck Useable?

Did you know it is possible to generate a car from methane gas? Do you know where methane comes from? Yes, that's right horse waste. "The thoroughbreds and other breeds throughout the Ocala region total a population of approximately 50,000 horses which produce over 400,000 tons of animal waste annually. While the majority of it — 60-70% — can be land applied or composted, we need to implement an earth-friendly method to effectively dispose of the remaining 30-40%," said Richard Hancock, executive vice president of the FTBOA."http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/news/article/2007/11/creating-energy-from-horse-muck-in-florida-50502 400,000 tons of waste annually? That is a crazy amount. Here we are looking for options when there is one clean option right in front of us.
If we used a combination of alternative energy sources and worked with all of them it would be easier to solve this growing issue. The issue of are we over polluting and killing our earth? Would this happen naturally? I truly believe we could slow down the movement of global warming by not polluting the air with Gasoline. If we used clean energy I think people would be healthier as well. Then we would need to solve the over population issue. That will come later. We can't solve everything but a start is the war/fighting over petroleum.
Horses could be an avenue for change. I know it sounds weird using horse waste, but what if we could really help the earth. The horse waste isn't being used anyway so what would make a difference if we used it to our advantage? It wouldn't. I think it's a smart idea to use this waste to our advantage. Global Greensteam has received financial support from Aera Energy LLC. You may just see this method in the future.

Alternative Energy in Maine is sparking the interest of the all year residents. It may just be small ways to convert but at least it is something. People are using different light bulbs, unplugging electronics and really thinking about conserving their energy. The reason they are doing this although, is because they are trying to save money. Most aren't thinking of their carbon footprint.
Even if we got people interested in a bigger project of alternative energy by telling them they would save more money in the long run... this might spark their interest. We know in this economy it's hard to find jobs and it's hard to spend any extra money on anything. So if we worked out a plan even with the government, promised people a loan they could pay back once they started saving money, and actually showed them other windmills and solar energy from people who already have it... I think people would be well informed and be really intrigued to want to change their life style to save money. Once more and more people start converting other people will feel the need to follow them. Soon enough we would be on the right track to converting our whole state of Maine to alternative energy! "Efficiency Maine Energy Saving Tip I unplug electronics that I'm not using. It saves me $7 bucks a month!" This comes right from www.efficiencymaine.com Check out the video "commercial."
Also, alternative energy electronics and appliances are becoming more and more popular. Things like refrigerators, toilets, and clothes washers. Why not spend a few extra dollars and then you save money in the long run!

Is it possible to switch Maine to Alternative Energy?

As I watched the Channel 6 News the other night Vinalhaven, Maine came up. The topic was about Vinalhaven being fully converted to wind power. There are three wind turbines put up. This will power enough electricity for all the year round residents of Vinalhaven. 1500 people live on this island and only 3 wind turbines will power electricity for all those residents. " 'I think it's a wonderful project," said Hazel Smith, whose property lies close to the construction site. "I've always loved the windmills. It's cheaper power; and to me, they're peaceful. Everybody came together for this. Everyone is looking forward to it.' "

Personally I would love to have Windmills run Barter's Island. My home community. It would work as well. The problem is cooperation of people who don't want to change their way of life. If people realized how much money they would save it may spark their interest a little more.

In the meantime we can find ways to reduce our CARBON FOOTPRINT. We can power our homes with wind, water, or sun. I think also, the more people push for alternative energy, the more the government will listen... I mean this is a democratic nation right? If the govt. would set up a plan to provide loans to put in alternative energy in homes and when people start saving money they can pay the state back, it would provide a way for everyone to convert. The people and government just need to cooperate and work together. Everybody wants the earth to survive and if it comes down to cooperating or dying... I would hope people would choose to cooperate.
